Celebrate Free Speech and Music at Byline Festival
Byline Festival is like Woodstock for a Facebook generation. It's a riot of independent journalism and free speech for Brexit Britain and the Trump post-truth era. The festival recaptures the spirit of festivals that had a sense of purpose. It's for people who don't want to take Brexit, fake news or Trump lying down. It is the first festival for independent journalism, free speech and expression with comedy and music!
What you get:
• Access to the festival for the whole weekend
• Free parking and use of the campsite
• Famous speakers, comedians, poets and musicians (see list below)
Festival events and activities include immersive theatre, art in the trees, workshops for poetry, art, surveillance, hostile environment training, drama, making podcasts and documentaries as well as how to riot. Everyone will get the chance to join in and create content for the last day with leading journalists, filmmakers, writers and dramatists or you can just relax in a hot tub in the woodland spa. The Frontline Club are recreating their world famous bar and the Old Cheshire Cheese pub will keep the drinks flowing.
Participants
• Speakers include Frances Barber, Hugh Grant, June Sarpong, Bonnie Greer, A.L. Kennedy, Luke Harding, John Sweeney
• Comedy from John Cleese, Lenny Henry, Hardeep Singh Kohli, Rowan Pelling and Julia Streets
• Poetry from Salena Godden and Kirsty Allison.
• D.J. Nihal will lead more than 60 bands and music acts
